I am a 16 year old and I'm looking at buying a 1998 Sebring JXi convertible. The car that I just looked at needs stitching repair to the convertible top. No rips just loose stitching. Does anyone know if this is an expensive repair and if I should take it to a body shop for such a repair?

Your best bet would be to find an automotive or marine upholstery place or like you said ask a body shop where they take their customers cars that are in need of repairs to a top. It’s kind of a specialty thing that most body shops would have an outside firm do it for them.
Who ever you find to do this job I would have them look at it before you buy the car, so they could price out the repair. It may just look like stitching to you but it may also mean a new top and you want to have it in your budget for this repair.
