Dear Sir, or Ma'am,
What could cause the service engine soon light to be read as fuel system lean, when I just replaced my fuel pump, as well as the regulator? I was told by the dealership to replace the fuel pump, as well as the injector system, since there was one injector that was leaking. I thought that if an injector was bad, it would cause flooding, once the pump was fixed, and make my car run hard. My car runs great until the light comes on. I also took my time fixing the fuel pump, ($ issues), and so I am wondering if I burned out my oxygen sensor, or cadylic converter. I was told I need to wait for the light to come back on to diagnose the oxygen part, by a muffler shop that I have good relations with.
Also, while trying to order the injectors, the parts department said, after taking my vin number, that I could replace one injector, after I figure out which one is actually leaking. Then I was told by Napa Parts that it cannot be done that way, and that is not true for this particular year, make, model and vin number. Well, it seems the dealership would know this.
I have 108,000 miles on my vehicle, blonde hair and blue eyed, VERY vulnerable with these shops. PLEASE HELP!

I'm afraid just about every statement you have made here is wrong. There are any number of things that can cause a lean code. Vacuum leaks are right up there at the top of the list. You can't "burn out" an O/2 sensor. You can clog it from an over rich mixture over time. Same goes for the Catalytic Converter. Yes, you can replace one injector at a time on the later models, depending on the year. You do not have to wait for the light to come back on to read codes. It has a memory.
