Cleaning Plugs and Leaded Gas Sign In

There was a day when we changed plugs a couple times a year. Leaded gas would foul them up and I recall a sand blasting box that would clean them up. That was ok for the 50's and 60's. I believe now that we all got fooled by lead in gas.

At any rate spark plugs (soon to be history) can last a long time. Many are not easy to change and I don't recommend cleaning them. A new one is smooth and repels the debris that can cause problems. When you wire brush them and or any other method I really think you make a suface MORE subject to collect debris.Frown

Also - if you do replace plugs - use OEM quality. There's no savings in cheap plugs. Happy Motoring, - T
