Car stalled in high water -- how screwed am I? Sign In

I drove my 97 manual Honda Civic into some high water (possibly up to the engine) twice, and on the second time (trying to get to high land) it stalled as I drove it up into an uphill driveway. Never did the car fail to start, and the longer it was dry the better it sounded. 20 mins later, and I tried driving it again. I only got a few blocks before I pulled into a parking lot -- it died the first time I shifted into second, also, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears were all jolty and weaker (I'd have to downshift all the way to first or second to get up some steep hill.) It was jolty enough that my check engine light started blinking. After parking it, my dipstick showed extremely low oil (almost nonexistant) but no water. I obviously will add more oil as soon as I go back, and get it changed ASAP.

[EDIT: I forgot to add that I think I smelled a weird smell from my engine while driving, and a friend driving behind me said something about it smelling. Not entirely sure if it smelled (my sense of smell is almost nonexistant as well).]

(1) Does it sound like I'll need to replace spark plugs, electrical connections? Is it worse; am I screwed?
(2) If not, how long should I wait to try and drive it again?

Thanks for any answers/help.

The first thing to do is a compression test. Odds are pretty good you injested some water into the engine while playing motorboat . Water does not compress , its got to go somewhere on the compression stroke . Sooooo it blows the head gasket . If your lucky the head is not damaged . Your probably as screwed as a $2 hooker.

Correct me if I'm wrong RT, but I believe the accepted industry standard term required by BAR on all WOs for these specific situations is " U-Boat Commander"

This U-boat has been retrofitted to a submarine.
