Car making weird sound Sign In

Hi. I just bought a 2002 sebring with 55000 miles on it, engine is 2.7, 6 cylinder and it makes noise. The noise SEEMS to be coming from front left side of the car. The noise sounds like when you ride in airplane or when you drive a car with windows open on higheay.

When i drive it i cannot even hear the music/radio prooerly.

The noise is NOT caused by gas pedal but it comes on when the car is moving. The noise is APPEARENTLY caused by wheel/tire movement and not by engine or gas pedal.

I wanted to take for wheel bearings inspection but I dont know if it could be something else. I phoned to ask what is the price to inspect to see where the noise comes from and they said it starts at $30 but didnt say how hight the bill can go.....

Wheel bearing inspection is less than $50

Any suggestions

Re: Car making weird sound Sign In

If a wheel bearing it will be vehicle speed related and near allways will make more sound when turning one way or the other. If loud enough to impair hearing your radio this is dangerous and on borrowed time. Don't wait or even tow it for the fix,

I called the shop and explained the problem so they said bring it in for suspension test. I just would like to know what does suspension testing include?

They said over the phone what they will be testing but due to English i understood nothing except that it includes wheel bearing test and total price is $27 while a day earlier they said wheel bearing test alone is $40

It includes whatever he decides should be included. There is no specific procedure for inspecting a car. I can tell you that most shops around here wouldn't be charging anything for that.

No charges here either HT for quick checks with something this wild those who do this peg it fast. We don't have the same basic rules of biz and if shops to this person charge for such bull that's fine with me but be correct and put a price to the fix.

I have every faith that all regular techs here and out there have had tough things to diagnose that just will NOT show the problems when checked. Can be madness and require very accurate info from the owner/driver of a vehicle..............

At least we had brake inspection free but today I paid $40 for it as well.

I did take a drive test with a mechanic and they think it is front left wheel bearing and suggested to be replaced no later than 3 months.

They also found out that frint brake pads and rotors must be replaced

Beside inspection fees they estimate to fix those things for $800
