my car is a 1990 crown victoria 5.0 V8 STATION WAGON
Details: wire from + battery terminal was loose and not grounded properly( parts were showing)
Symptoms: nothing happens when I turn key. Nothing goes on , no clock, no fuel pump. NOTHING.
MAYBE i blew a fuse or relay or cirucit breaker BECAUSE OF BAD BATTERY CONNTECTION.
I TRIED TO REPLACE A 8.25 CIRCUIT BREAKER AND IT WORKED FOR A SECOND THEN CLICKED AND SHUT OFF.
BOTTOM LINE UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!_- MY Friend checked it and found out there was no power to ignition wires? WHAT POOSIBLE POINTS COULD CAUSE OF LOSS OF CONNECTION TO IGNITION WIRES???

Wire from + battery terminal is not supposed to be grounded. Negative terminal is grounded. If you ground the positive cable you risk burning out the alternator, frying the computer, frying wiring harnesses etc. That's why the circuit breaker operated. It done it's job.

You have me a bit confused. You are saying the + (pos ) was loose and not GROUNDED? PLEASE elaborate. When did this condition start and what were you doing ar time? Driving at speed ,idleing , parked etc

I changed my battery while back because termianals were coroded.
I never tightened cables back to battery ( ok, i made a stupid lazy mistake)
Every since, the clock has been flickering since, and the batttery started to loose charge and car didn't start up as well--- if figured battery,- & still did nothing
Please Note::: car is old, but for last 3 years that I know,-- WHATEVER ARRAGENMENT OF BATTERY CABLES WERE MADE WORKED.
CONTINUING:
I parked car one morning after short drive, and when tried to start it up again , NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN I TURNED KEY, only interior/headlights/pwr locks workd
I noticed there was a red cable from + terminl that hooked onto solenoid and it was broken up (spliced) and corroded
I fixed that and tighted battery cables but ever since nothing happens when I turn key and.....I found when I swapped in a new 25amp breaker , car started up for 3 seconds THEN DIED AND SOUNDED LIKE BLEW A FUSE OR BREAKER.
i DO HAVE an automatic starter hooked up. MAYBE the bad coonections at cables fried the automatic starter or fuses/circuit breakers or the solenoid.
any advice or ways to diagnos this is appreciated and helpful

OK you made a mistake , that does not make you stupid or lazy . A procrastinator maybe but not lazy . If car will not start you need to remove battery and take to a parts house for a charge and load test .Now that you have eliminated the batt being the prob, you need to clean and re-tighten all your connections.Still no start ? Now check for power with a test light at small post on solenoid while helper turns key to start. If no , unhook auto starter and and restore wiring . If it clicks and there is power on both large terminals at the same time go to next step .. Jack up car and with jackstands in place see if power is on BOTH the small and large terminals again using test light ,if so try tapping the starter on side with hammer . if it does or does not start you prob need a starter .

You need to follow RTs advise 1st. Gotta cover the basics before moving on to other areas.....
What I would like to know is what circuirt is that fuse blowing in and exactly what type of auto starter are you talking about & how is it wired up?????

Note; i said earlier a 25amp breaker...... IT WAS AN 8.25 AMP breaker.
ANYWAY.... I had friend who installed auto start look at car and wires and he concluded that;;;;; THERE WAS no power to igntion wires... with that said i am confused because when I switched up a new 8.25AMP CIRCUIT BREAKER,,, and turned key,,, the fuel pump, clock, flashers turned on for 2 sec then shut off.
I don't know what that 8.25amp (rectangular silver shaped c. breaker is) or what it has to do with this.

At this point it might be a good idea to have the friend who installed this take a look at it.........
As you stated earlier, replacing that fuse/breaker would let the car start until it blew, would tell you there is a short on that circuit (whatever the circuit is, I still don't know). That short needs to be traced down.....
If I was looking at it. The 1st thing I would do would be to bypass the alarm/remote starting system and then see what I had.........
This is after confirming all the advise RT posted earlier.......don't overlook the basics

A maybe:
Check the plug at the alternator - large one. If melted up it can short out there. Just the pigtail is available for those with the plug but it probably was caused by the alternator going nuts so might need both. Used to be a problem spot and short the system there. Pigtails were available with self soldering connector and shrink wrap ready to install if so. Not sure - just something to check out,

Thanks for hitting my brains refresh button,Tom . I had almost forgot the ol FRY DADDY alt plug. Used to keep a couple in my box . They where a HOT item for a while,

1 is the starter & soleoid separate 1990 crown vic
2 where is the starter in 1990 crown vic
I guess I probably have a short in my ignition wires so I will check those.

Pretty sure so - just follow positive cable, the solenoid shouldn't be far away on inner fender,

thanx everyone for all the help. I was greatly appreciated.
I am not sure the sole problem, but I found a small cut in one wire that hooks onto solenoid and some of the -Battery cables had been spliced many years ago and the tape and cables were worn down ( this was far down the line almost under car.. I had not realized this at first)
fixed those and it worked. thnk gd.
