The a/c compressor went out and tore my belt off. Can I bypass the compressor completely by using a shorter belt? The car starts when not attached to compressor pulley. This van is old, lots of miles but runs well except for this. The guy I have working on it doesnt want to have to take off the compressor, because it is a bitch to get to.
