2002 Kia Sedona-- 6 cylinder--135,000 miles

On occasions when I first touch my break pad i hear a high pitched whine or squeek from the passanger front brake area. It goes away as I apply presure on the pad. there is no grinding or any other sound when I apply the brakes fully. This squeek only happens randomly and never when the pads are cold only after I have braked a few times.

What might be the cause of this sound?

Sounds like the pads are glazed.........All to common problem with disc brks..............

Brake pads move in and out fractions of an inch as you apply the brake. After a time somepads, depending on their quality, will form a very smooth surface, or "glaze" on them. I've also heard it said all disc brakes will emit a very high pitched squeel that is above the human pitch, but at times dogs can hear it. Could be the pad squeelers are indicating it's time for an inspection or change. Could be dust or road dirt has gotten between the back of the pad & caliper. I would pull a tire and check the pads for wear to begin with. -se t
