Brake Lights only if headlights on

Brake Lights only if headlights on

I have a 1997 Nissan Maxima. Just recently I noticed only one brake light comes on when I hit the brake pad. But when I turn on the headlights, both work. Any thoughts are much appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know what the headlights have to do with brake lights but it just sounds like a bad bulb on that side.
