Battery Electric Issue

2002 Hyundai Elantra 5dr
I had to replace the battery and when I did all of a sudden the stereo and headlights stopped working, figured it was a ground issue or fuse but would fix it later, took the battery out, when I put it in and let the car run for awhile the battery died....tried it in another vehicle and was dead. The altenator was replaced last year, so I dont believe it the issue, but I am not really a car person so I have no clue.....any help?

What killed the original battery? Did you test the charging system?

My 2 yr old turning all the lights on and leaving em on for 5 days while it was parked haha. Occasionally had to boost the car but the battery was worthless after that. Looking at the fuses where the push in one of the peices is missing from the frt wipers, not on the fuse but on the panel itself so the fuse isnt actually doing anything other then that I have no clue.

Like I said not even remotley a car person, but do have alot of electrical knowledge, how would I check it. One suggestion I read was using a meter and pulling fuses to see if I could narrow down a short....

That would be how to find a parasitic draw. If this is happening while the car is being used, then that is not your problem. Use a voltmeter across the battery with the engine idling and no accessories on. You should have between 13.5 and 14.8v. Double check your battery hookup and make sure there are no small wires disconnected from the battery or body ground.
