I have a 2014 jeep patriot and when you turn the wheel it makes a clanking sound. Not really jacked it up or looked at it close. just wondering which one it could be, anybody got any guesses?

l'll remove the duplicate post no need and it's not A/C?
I take it you haven't even look yet? LOOK! REALLY should make sure wheel is properly tightened before you do anything else!!!!
Things like clues, loose metal/plastic plates, sway bar integrity, look for torn CV boots. IDK for all I can tell so far could be some exhaust shield fooling you so far so please look around and tap gently on things suspect,

Way more info required and what is a "clank"? Once, or ta-ta-ta?

Is the vehicle moving? Is the frequency of the noise proportional to speed? (ta-ta at low speed, a hum or vibration higher)

Sorry, didn't glean your post in it's entirety. Does it click-click-click proportional to speed as you turn? FWIW, never seen a ball joint - no matter how bad - make a noise.

Not entirely true, but they'll usually stay quiet once you're moving.

Then I guess you haven't been around long enough. It is VERY common for a dry ball joint to make all sorts of noises ie; snapping, cracking, creaking etc. I've seen that MANY times.

Of course you're correct, as have I. heard 'em sound like a hammer on the control arm. Apologies .. A late night post poorly worded - I meant a constant noise of a specific frequency or monotone while travelling.

This is how he described it.
