I asked the dealer to repair an oil leak. They replaced the rear main oil seal in my car which involved removing the transmission. Now the oil leak is repaired, but the transmission is leaking fluid.

Am I to pay the full price for the repair of this transmission leak or should the dealer chip in for some of the cost? Would they be willing to fund part of the cost of repair? Or do you think they will refuse?

It helps if you bother to state what the damn vehicle is!

So trans came out for any reason in some vehicle. Most use cooler lines, seals to driveshaft(s) and any could leak and if messed with should check. If it lasted a few minutes was thought to be fine probably?

Is this mechanic error or just didn't go nuts and replace a lot more the first time will never be known. You are asking to deal who should pay for what which is impossible from here. Damage by error is on them. Just bad luck or an old POS something who knows? If you really needed to fix a rear main that engine is probably junk or will be with worn crank bearings seals don't last,

You should head back over to the dealer and have them look to see where the transmission is leaking fluid. Once they and yourself have determined the source is when you should sit down with them to figure out what course of action to take.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
