99 chevy s10 help!!!!! Sign In

1999 chevy s10 140000 miles

ok so driving home today on the highway my car started to do some weird stuff. First thing i noticed is that out of no were my car would not run above 3000 rpms and couldnt get any speed even with my foot to the floor. So i decided to pull it over to check out whats goin on with it. As soon as i got it to the shoulder the car died on me. When i tried to start it again it would not crank or anything.
Now, a couple things iv checked already, yes i have oil and coolant in my car. Also i can spin the belt by hand wich should mean that my moater is not seazed. the car did not overheat when this happned nor did i loose any fluids. my fuzes r all good. so im confused and lost right now any1 have any ideas on what the problem could b??

Work on your spelling as much is Greek to guess at!

One of perhaps many problems common to some of your problems may be the GM side post battery cable ends that may appear OK but not making the proper connection or delivering proper power?

I would charge and test the battery first then when that is good, test the charging system. It sounds like the alternator may have quit.

Does this have an aftermarket alarm system installed?
Which engine?

Pull the fuse box cover under the hood and look for the starter relay. Have someone attempt to crank the engine will you listen to the relay. It should click.

That means the ignition switch, PRNDL, etc. is allowing the relay to energize to close the contacts to send power for engaging the starter solenoid.

Pull the relay out. There are numbers on the relay (87,30,85,86) The numbers correspond to the pins on the relay. Take a piece of fused jumper wire and jump 87 to 30 in the relay cavity. This should make the starter spin. Make sure its in park with the parking brake engaged if you bypass.

In the picture 87A is being shown. The picture is just showing you how to jumper terminals. The numbers you want are 87 and 30. Not 87A if the relay has that terminal.

Re: 99 chevy s10 help!!!!! Sign In

what they're trying to say is you can't make assumptions on these things, you have to start at "one end" of the system , does the little wire at the starter have power when you turn the key to start ? if not then you go to the next point, the relay, figure out those terminals and see if the power supplys are all normal, if this was easy everyone would do it, keep your head
