Here's the specs:
1999 Sebring Convertible, JXI
2.5L V6
124000

check engine light came on. Immediately pulled over and checked all fluid levels, upper radiator hose pressure, and air filter. All checked out fine. Right when it happened I was accelerating at max, pedal to the metal. occurred around 6800RPM in overdrive at 52MPH accelerated from 39MPH. the tone of the engine dropped a fraction, most people wouldn't even have noticed it. Luckily I tend to buy nightmare cars and then keep them running like MacGyver, so any smell/sound/feel/change that occurs I'm all paranoid and usually catch it, then write down what i was doing when it happened. :) I was two states away from where i lived when this happened, so I took my chances and drove home. 400 miles later the check engine light was still on, and the car was still running fine. One day the light went off on it's own, but came back on the next day. I took it in to have the codes read so I could see what I was dealing with, and it came up NO CODES. WTF. I checked periodically for a week after that, still no codes. I've driven the car like this for two months and 3000 miles now, and finally noticed a change. Now when it's idling... there is the tiniest little irregular engine buck, and my RPMs have dropped to 500 instead of the steady 725 they were at. If I rev the engine up to 750RPM the RPMs drop back to 725 and stays there on its own, it's only when I have come to a stop at a redlight... that it winds down to 500-550 on its own. I could feel the buck, but I had to get down to grille height and look over the radiator at the engine before i could see anything(not even close to being able to see it just looking down at engine). I matched the top of the radiator to the lines on the valve cover to actually see the motion. It's not constant. it'll run fine for 10 seconds, then give that tiny nudge, then do it again 2 seconds later, then 5 seconds later. Sometimes it doesn't do it for a minute or so. My friends don't feel it but i know its there, and they aren't car guys. I disconnected the battery for half an hour, and when i put it back together viola! No check engine light. I drove it for two days with no problems, then the check engine light came on again. I've done this a few times in the past two weeks, each time the check engine light stays of for a day or two, then comes back on. Still no codes. Any suggestions?

I've seen this in the past with lower end code readers. I'm not sure what you are using so can only guess. The 1st suggestion would be to try a different scanner. I've even seen this between a Snap on brick & Modis once (the brick didn't show anything)

With the limited info I could only guess. It's possible you hit you rev limiter in drive and that will set a code and you would notice what seemed like a power loss but it shouldn't affect idle rpm.... As far as that goes, make sure the throttle is good & clean.

1st thing to do would be to establish accurate communication with the PCM...... Can you communicate with any other modules?

I know you are probably already aware of this but 7 grand is real hard on those engines. Those 2.5s are interference engines & I've seen A LOT of them punch holes in pistons when the timing belt breaks..... Food for thought

I've taken it to Autozone and Merlins to have the codes read, neither can pull one. Merlin said they were getting active pings just no engine codes. Was told that this sometimes happens on 2.5's when there's a low spark problem with the ignition. Looked around online and found some forums that mentioned that as well. Had the timing belt replaced about 4 months ago. There is an UPDATE:
I slowed down for a stop light yesterday, and as the engine spooled down to it's idle speed it stayed at 500 again... but this time the oil light fluttered on and off. I revved to 1000rpm and it dropped back to 750 and stayed like always, oil light hasn't come back since. But even i know that's serious. Oil sending unit? Channels widened out on the main bearings? main bearings going bad...? Whenever I've seen a fluttering or on again off again oil light at idle speed, it seems that oil just isn't getting to the top of the engine like it should. Especially when a tiny rev up makes the light go away(throwing oil up to the top quick). I'm thinking the oil isn't the starting problem that caused the check engine(maybe a consequence?) simply because it's been months and the oil light is just now showing up, but i am more than open to suggestions. What about the distributor, usually they control the oil sending unit as well right? Could this low spark thing be the cause, a distributor going bad?
