99 Grandam cranks but shuts off in 30 secs Sign In

I have a 99 GrandAm V6 3.4L with 115000 that I am able to crank and in about 30 secs it shuts off.I was told it was the fuel pump so I replaced it and the fuel filter. However, it still does the same thing. Its got a fairly new battery and new battery terminals.I was able to keep the engine running longer(5 mins total) only when I pressed the gas pedal right before it would shut off. I am able to this repeatedly until I mash the gas pedal too late.I dont think its the PassLock system because I dont get a security light when it shuts off or when its "running'.I do not have a code reader.Note: I leave the car in park position,I havent't put it in Drive position yet.Pls help!

Those problems are kind of a PIA because you have to be watching what goes bye bye before the engine quits if the engine restarts after it stalls. If it doesn't restart after is stalls, finding what is missing is a whole lot easier.

To figure that kind of stuff out you need some high tech equipment such as scan tools, scopes, fuel pressure gauge, multimeter, and etc. Some things you want to monitor are:

*System voltage at the computer

*Datastream information to see if it goes out when the engine quits

*crank sensor signal

*fuel pressure

*MAF voltage

* Primary and secondary ignition patterns

* injector pulse or waveform (waveform is better)

* idle air control counts to see if the PCM slams the IAC shut (this is only if it stalls with your foot off the gas)

Something or somethings are going to go missing just before it quits. These kind of problems are hard for DIY to figure out. They are also challenging for most techs too.
