Problem just started recently. I am not sure what I can do.
The heater is making a loud noise, sort of like one of those party favors that people "blow"
It is a 99 Grand Prix.
And any ballpark on how much it will cost to fix?

chances are good it the bearings in your blower motor going out. The motors generally cost about $50 on average and aren't too bad of a job. My friend has a 98 Grand Prix so next time I see her I'll peek at it and see how bad it is for access. As I recall its a do it yourself job with a metric 1/4 drive socket set, and a u-joint can come in handy. Eventually the motor will quit spinning, so if possible it would be worth your time to do it sooner than later so you can continue to have heat. When you pull it out look in the housing with a flashlight. I've seen fine bits of leaves and such pack in there before that need to get vacuumed out.

Like Nick posted, you could have a motor going out. Also like he mentioned I've seen leaves or pieces of paper get in there and hit the "squirrel cage", kinda sounds like a card in the spokes of a bike.

Either way the motor will have to come out to see, if it's just debris in there, then its a cheap fix...........
