98 s10 - vacuum lines?

Hello all,
I have a lifted 98 s-10 4x4, high output Vortec 4.3L w/SFI (engine recently replaced with a crate motor; approx 15k on motor/shocks, 180k on chassis, and 80k on transmission)
I noticed there was a vacuum line just dangling, i traced it to the transfer case.
Here is the hose I saw:
And heres where I traced it to:
What is this hose for? Where does the other end connect to? Is there any reason, other than a terrible mechanic shop (loong story), that it would be left disconnected?
Note that there is a very small possibility that it may not be that particular hose(I was not able to trace one of them so i could be certain, it split off at a t and I couldn't follow it after that), although I'm pretty certain the arrow points out the correct one.

First let me say thanks for the extra trouble of taking and posting pics . Some posters will not even give yr ,make and model. Unfortunetly the object kinda blends in with the background. It apppears that your holding a 3/8" hose with a bolt stuck in it . If thats the case its prob just a vent hose. If Im wrong , take another pic from a diff angle or maybe a towel for a background.

Lol gladly; its hard enough to try to diagnose issues without being next to the vehicle, let alone over the net. Thanks for the reply :D
That's exactly what it is, hose with a plug.
The last auto shop I had it in wasn't much of an auto shop apparently, because I've found a whole mess of things wrong/things that were left unfixed.
Any idea as to where that line might go or why it was plugged? I looked around for open ports for it but found none. Only info I was able to find about that 3 port vacuum hose connection on the transfer case was a picture that showed it in the chilton book. Didn't describe it at all though

OK ,a line like that would most likely be a vent hose for either the transfer case or the front diff . Look on each for a hose that size and folllow it up . If thats it , zip tie it out of harms way with end pointing down and bolt removed.

I'm guessing vacuum controls for the 4X4..

I know the old S-10's have vacuum controled 4wd, but i thought the newer ones were electronic?

Not to worry thats the vent for your transfor case..and don't get hooked to anything..but normally theres a clip somewhere to keep it in place..just tie it our of the way and out of sight and you're good to go...good luck

Really though i would appreciate any information from that place cause i here it's a very good program.
When i was doing the topend rebuild on my sisters geo metro I really could have used a vacuum diagram.
And then i was doing the fan thing and could have used a good electrical diagram cause the haynes one is crap.
