I have a 98 toyota camry that will drive for a short distance and then stall out. Have to wait for a while before it starts and runs again for just a few minutes. Acts like the fuel is bad or not getting fuel? What is the best way for me to trouble shoot this problem?

Bad or fuel too dirty will be tricky. I'd try a new fuel filter and if that changes it that would point to a bad fuel problem. Try to get a fuel pressure test both while runnning and not. That could lead to a bad fuel pump.

If you really think it's bad fuel I would try a can of SeaFoam in the gas and see if you can't burn this tank away and if it works yet another fuel filter, T

If the fuel system test/inspection is ok then locate your ECU and there are a number of fusible links to check,(this has happened to me before with same car) that when blown show symptoms very similar to yours.(when this happened to me the check engine light came on during poor performance.
