I have a 98 V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee that overheated the other day and after having it checked out there was a crack found in the radiator. I had a new radiator put in the next day, however now when I start the truck it shakes until I start driving and it still seems to overheat. I put the heat on but only cold air blows out. I also noticed since the radiator was replaced I am unable to accelerate beyond a 30mph speed limit. The check engine light is on and after they checked the error I was told I could have a blown head gasket. I am going to get a second opinion because after speaking with a few people they all said it doesn't sound like a problem with the head gasket. Would it help any if the thermostat was replaced? Any ideas on what can be wrong?

Sounds like they may be on the right track with the head gasket or head problem. You will need to have the cooling system checked for combustion gases. That will tell the tail. But all the symptoms you are describing right after an overheat are signs of head gasket or head trouble.

Jeff is right, it probably is a head gasket from previously overheating it bit it really should have gotten a new thermostat when the radiator was changed so I would replace that first just to be sure.
