The car: Oldsmobile Achieva 1998 with 133,000 miles
Just bought the car on Sunday. The dealer told us that they had been driving it around and it seemed to be working fine. They had their mechanic look it over and he said that whoever had the car last replaced the transmission, radiator, brakes, and hoses. We drove it home, which was a 30 miles drive. The temperature gage for the engine was well over the midway point heading towards the orange over heating side. We parked it and a HUGE puddle of water appeared under the passenger side. The water was literally streaming out. Opened up the hood and heard a sizzling sound. Neighbor knows a little about cars and said it looked like it over heated because water/coolant wasn't getting to the engine, then it all leaked out. She thinks it's the water pump. She has a trouble shooter device like mechanics use, we ended up getting a bunch of different codes regarding the Solenoid Circuit Electrical Malfunction, Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malfunction, Shift Solenoid A Circuit Electrical, and Solenoid Circuit B malfunction. But nothing relating to something leaking or water pump problem. What does all of this mean? The code box also said it was a problem that needed to be taken care of in the next day or so before more damage is done. Also, my neighbor put some water in the coolant thing, turned on the car, and the cooling fan came on within minutes. Then it turned off randomly. Water streamed out from under the car during this.

I'm scared to drive it 30 miles back to the dealer. I'm considering having them come to me. I've talked to them and they wanted me to bring it to them to look at the leak before I knew about all the other problems, now I don't want to drive it. Can any one help me, and help me understand what is going on with this car??

If you saw steam coming out somewhere, then you obviously have a leak. Losing coolant will lead to overheating and after that engine damage so, no, I wouldn't try to drive it 30 miles. It needs to be pressure tested to find the leak. If the dealer is going to cover this under warranty, let him tow it back to his shop. if you get this too hot, your going to be buying a motor.
