I have a 1994 vw golf with a '97 gti vr6 swap. I just recently had to replace the hub bearing and complete cv halfshaft on the drivers side, and now i get this really loud grinding, almost creaky, sound from that wheel. I checked to make sure all bolts were tightened and looked over the brake system but cannot figure out where the noise is coming from. It actually sounds very similar to when you forget to put the E brake down and drive, but this is the front driver's side wheel so i'm miffed. ANYONE please any suggestions would be welcome.

Check for the backing plate making contact with the rotor. You should be able to just push it away a little when you find the right spot. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
