97 chevy 1/2 ton brake problems

I have a 97 chevy 1500 4x4 305 5 speed. I have a major problem with my brakes and from all of the searching I have done im pretty sure its the vacuum booster but im not positive so Ill try to explain what is happening and whats been done leading up to this happening. My brake pedal is extremely hard and when I hit my brakes the idle drops and if I have to stop rapidly it will idle so low that it dies and from everything i have read that would point to the vacuum booster but im also losing brake fluid pretty fast like it will be empty in under a week and I cannot figure out where its leaking at. Last fall I had my dad change my front disc brakes and when he was doing the passenger side 1 of the caliper bolts broke so we had to replace it and at first my brakes felt alright and after about a month I felt a little vibration when i hit my brakes and I just figured my rotor was warped and didnt really pay much attention to it and then in January every now and then when I hit my brakes the pedal would start pulsating and pushing back so i would let the brake out and push it back in and it would stop and i still thought it was my rotor and figured I would change em when i had time which was really dumb of me and i should have pulled the tires off right then and looked at them but i didnt until about a month ago when my brakes started grinding when I hit the brakes and i knew something bad was wrong so I checked the brake fluid and it was a little over half gone and then I took of the front drivers side tire and the pads were good and i didnt see anything wrong so I took off the passenger side tire and I felt like a complete idiot when I saw that the brake pad and the rotor was completely ground off. I had no idea what caused it and couldnt see anything wrong except after we put a new rotor on and were putting on new brake pads the piston was pushed all the way out and was hard to get back in to get the caliper back on but we got it on and after driving it the pedal was kinda stiff but not to bad. Then about a week later I started noticing when I was stopped and I pushed the break pedel that the idle would go down a little and the pedal was getting harder so I checked the brake fluid and it was about half gone so I stared looking for a leak and figured it would be leaking around the passengers side tire and I couldnt find a leak so I started checking under the master cylinder and couldnt find anything leaking. So for the next couple of weeks I just kept a close eye on the brake fluid topping it off about once a week and I figured it should be ok as long as I kept the brake fluid until i could save up some money to have someone look at it to figure out whats wrong but this week it got to where the pedal is extremely hard and very hard to stop and the idle goes so low that it dies and Im losing fluid faster so it has to be fixed now so I started seaching to get an idea of what was wrong and it seems to be the vacuum booster is bad and i read that the diaphragm can rupture and allow brake fluid to leak into the vacuum booster. What I want to know is what happens to the fluid once in leaks into the booster, will it then start leaking out of the booster and if so where would i look to see if its leaking. I know whatever is wrong has to be what caused my brake pad to completely wear out and destroy my rotor in only 4 months and I can't find anything that explains if or how a vacuum booster could cause something like that to happen and or is there something else worng. Sorry for making this so long I just want to give you guys as much info as i can so if anyone knows whats going on and can point me in the right direction it will be greatly appreciated.
