I have a 1996 F150, 6 cylinder, 2wd, manual tran with 211,000 that has just started making a low tone humming noise towards the front end. I can only hear it when pushing accelerator from speeds between 35 and up. However, as soon as I take my foot off the gas it the noise goes away. Thanks.

That indicates that the noise is likely not coming from the front. It has to be drive train if it responds to throttle like a transmission or pinion bearing. The only exception to that is if the exhaust system is grounding against the frame only when accelerating.
