MY 95 ranger ran out of gas now won't start. I replaced the fuel filter but nothing. I then took the fuel filter back off to attempt to blow into the tank thinking the pickup might be clogged. I found the fuel system was highly pressurized by getting a huge blast of gas to the face Shocked so I think the fuel pump is working. I also checked a little valve by one of the injectors and found gas was coming out. I'm wondering if the injectors could be clogged. Any help would be great. Thanks
Paul

Fuel injected engines don't like running out of gas and are hard to start but you said you see gas up at the engine?? Some things to try:

* use starter fluid in the intake - if it runs for a short while do it again and that may end the problem.

* If no go still. See if you have spark. That would be a strange cooincidence to lose but you need to know.

* Fuel pressure test may be in order. Fuel pumps overheat when out of gas or run low on fuel too often. If you can hear it build up pressure and shut off with key in just run position it's probably ok. If it just stays on it's trouble.

* Some spark plugs just wont fire if flooded out. Some will dry out with air and I've seen many that won't behave until heated up glowing hot or better if you have them out just put correct new ones back in.

-- I doubt all your fuel injectors are plugged up - the starter fluid test would be a clue to the problem though.

-- Don't over work your starter trying as you'll burn it up too if you try too hard with it.

Let us know if anything worked or was noted and it didn't and we can move on from there. Good luck, T
