I have a 1995 buick lesabre with 145,000 miles on it. I got the car in the summer of 09 then it had 100,000 miles on it. Just in the past few months I have seen a dramatic drop in gas milage. I used to get around 22 miles to the gallon and now I get around 14-15 miles to the gallon. I know the winter can take a toll but last winter the car was fine. If anyone knows anything please help the car runs great and is in good condition so I don't want to have to get rid of it.

Guesses: If no CEL light is on and car is running properly it could be normal. So many factor get involved with actual MPGs - cold will use more at least during extended warm up time. Tire pressure and the type of driving if no other faults are the rest.

Rare but possible that where you buy you gas isn't giving you a whole gallon/liter as posted. Most are inspected such that it's pretty rare to cheat on how much you actually get.

I wouldn't get rid of a good car so fast over this but find out why if you are sure it's something new to this vehicle.

Hey - my own assortment gets crap for MPGs as they frequently only do 3 mile trips which doesn't do well for "miles per gallon" but same do well on longer runs,

OK so I am the one with the major fuel drop on his Buick. I recently found two spots that my wires r arching. I was just wondering if that could be a major reason for the drop. I am not sure if that is enough but then again I'm not a mechanic.
