Is the AT OIL TEMP lamp flashing?
That one is a little complex and requires a high end scan tool to interface the TCM to see if the TCM is getting the request from the 4 wheel drive selector switch. Then you need to see if the TCM is commanding solenoid C in the transfer case. If the TCM is duty cycling the solenoid, but there is no engagement, something has failed in the transfer case.
