I have a 95 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl car 180k mileage.
It runs fine in good weather but if it rains or is damp out it doesnt want to run well.
If its rained the night before or that day and I get in the car and start it. . .it will start ok
and idle fine.. .but when I drive down the street it will start to act like its not getting gas and jerk
down the street at 10 mph . . . this only seems to be the case when it has rained out or is damp..
If i get out and let the car run idle that morning for like 20 mins.. then let it sit for a while and then get
back in the car a bit later . . it will run ok. When I first started noticing this happening I was told
the probably the coil pack was cracked and moisture was getting into it and causing the problem. I
had the coil pack replaced.. .it wasnt even cracked. I still had the problem. . took it back to the garage.
they replaced the fuel filter. It seemed to alleviate the problem. Then it started doing it again. I changed
the spark plug wires. This didnt help. I also put Heet in the gas tank thinking it might be a water in the gas issue. . . still not helping. What could possibly be in the engine that reacts to moisture and is
keeping my car from running on rainy or damp days like this?? Again, if I let the car idle for some time before
I intend on using it. . .its fine to drive.. So what is the problem? I am dumbfounded and so is everyone I have
took it to for repair. .. Please respond. . here or email.
Thank you.

I don't think this has anything to do with fuel. That wouldn't be effected by moisture. It's an electrical issue somewhere. you just haven't found it yet. This engine has multiple coils. Did you change all of them? Have you checked all the plugs for any cracks? A poor connection at any contact point of an ignition component can do that including but not limited to the coils, ignition control module, Crank Position sensor or ECM.

dandy dan: Could be a connection fussy to moisture. Going blind but didn't see new spark plugs on your list. If not do them as they can have hairline crack or faults the moisture exacerbated. Use only OE plugs and mark which ones came from were as they can have a tale to tell. Moisture aggravates connections and anything carrying high voltage for spark. If one is dropped - put that one in an easy cylinder and write it down which one if it was damaged will be easierWink
