94 jimmy dies while driving

I have a 1994 gmc jimmy 4.3l v6 carbureted non 4x4
Was driving one day and truck died while moving engine cut out
Then crank no start for 24 hours then will happen again
And again ussualy a 3 to 4 mile trip before it goes dead
The last time I drove it it only made it a 1/2 mile then would idle up and down
In a controled way but would sputter out if given gas then would not start for 24 hours.... someone said crank shaft position sensor .. it doesnt exist on this model

something is not kosher - a 1994 with a CARBURETOR? start with that, are you confusing TBI (Throttle Body Injection) with a carb?
And what about the Ck eng Light did you check codes?
Any work precede this issue.

You truck is not carburated. There is no such thing as a carbed 4.3 It is fuel injected.
Please post the 8th digit of your VIN# if you respond again.
All "crank, no start" conditions are approached in the same way. Every engine requires certain functions to be able to run. Some of these functions rely on specific components to work and some components are part of more than one function so it is important to see the whole picture to be able to conclude anything about what may have failed. Also, these functions can ONLY be tested during the failure. Any other time and they will simply test good because the problem isn't present at the moment.
If you approach this in any other way, you are merely guessing and that only serves to replace unnecessary parts and wastes money.
Every engine requires spark, fuel and compression to run. That's what we have to look for.
These are the basics that need to be tested and will give us the info required to isolate a cause.
1) Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester. If none found, check for power supply on the + terminal of the coil with the key on.
2) Test for injector pulse using a small bulb called a noid light. If none found, check for power supply at one side of the injector with the key on.
3) Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure, also noticing if the pressure holds when key is shut off.
Once you have determined which of these functions has dropped out,
you will know which system is having the problem.

Thanks for help... the 8th letter is z..on vin
I guess I thought its a carboreted cause of the round air filter inside the cover with wing nuts on top.. lol. Sorry.. ive seen pictures of other 94's that look different..
I will try to get her to die in drive way then diagnos..
Is there a sensor that controls injector pulse..?

Yeah, it's called an ECM (computer). If you remove the air cleaner you will see 2 injectors sitting right at the top. I'm suspecting a bad fuel pump but it's a little difficult to test pressure on this engine because it doesn't have a service port. They sell an adapter that goes in place of the fuel filter to take a reading from.You should be able to see if the injectors are spraying during cranking on that one.

I drove around the block and then let it idle in drive way .. it would idle fine then started to rev up and down over and over.. it would sputter if given gas.
I could see gas spit from valves .. on and off over and over... truck eventually died ..
I will check for spark ... but no gas when cranking over...

Yeah, it's likely a fuel problem but you'll need a fuel pressure gauge and noid light to determine if it's injector pulse of fuel pressure.

Have we asked about engine trouble codes - the Check Engine Light?
is it on - does it come on at every start @2seconds them go out?
