94 Toyota Camry loud buzzing noise when running HELP! Sign In

Timing belt and water pump replaced a few months ago, because it was making the same type of buzzing sound. Weird thing is the sound can only be heard when ur inside the car, you can not hear it when u pop the hood. After the replacement vehicle was running good, but now the buzzing sound is starting up again. Also car vibrates when idle and disappears when speed increases. Not sure if these issues are related. I am looking to educate myself on the issue so I can take the vehicle to a good repair shop. Mechanics always seem to take advantage of a female who unfortunately does not too much about cars. Thank you for any suggestions

Where does the buzzing noise sound like it is coming from? Can you isolate the source of the noise? Where do you feel the vibration? Maybe a worn out motor mount?

Not able to isolate the source of the noise, all motor mounts have been replaced so I can rule that out. Weird that the noise can only be heard when ur inside, when i pop the hood the noise can not be heard

Noises are hard to diagnose in a public forum, as I am sure your aware of, because we aren't there to hear what kind of noise it is or where it may be coming from.

How does the engine run? You might want to check items under the hood and under the vehicle that could cause vibrations if they come in contact with the body of the vehicle or using the body as a transmitter for vibrations.

AC pipes and exhaust system component contacting are possible causes. Our shop has run into aftermarket motor mounts in which the material was stiffer than the original equipment. We even had to go dealer on mounts (esp. Honda) or else would end up with a harsh vibration.

So..at idle, in the car, there is a rattle, when you pull the hood release the noise goes away? If the hood being up makes the noise go away then the noise is the hood striker rattling against the hood latch. The solution is to adjust the latch or the stops. I am assuming you don't mean you can't hear the noise "under" the hood
