I have a 1994 Acura Integra, not sure of the engine size, maybe 1.6, with 125,000 miles on it. While driving last night, I downshifted too soon, thinking I was at a lower speed (shifted into 2nd going about 45), the car jolted a bit then died immediately. The car will not start at all now. It cranks, but will not turn over. I have tried jump starting it, jumper cables, and the spark plugs have just been replaced. Any suggestions of what this could be and what caused it to happen? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My first suggestion is to check for spark. Then depending on the shock to the engine which would have moved in reaction just may have pulled on some or one critical wire or even unplugged? Not worried about plugs on this.

Another and check owner's manual as the shock if enough may have shut down engine as if in an accident which you would want if that really did happen and may have a reset and I simply don't know how this car does that critical safety function which most commonly would shut down fuel pump so it wouldn't be a ball of flames in a collision if a fuel line ruptured cars shouldn't keep pumping fuel,

Someone suggested that the timing belt may have slipped or broken. Do you think that is a possibility, it was just checked and in good condition? Was this caused by the downshift at too high of a speed? I have done this several times before and never had this reaction. The RPMs usually just jump and the car drastically reduces speed.

You forced the engine to over rev. You could have all kinds of damage now. Might be a good idea to do a compression test first to see if you bent any valves or anything like that.
