91 Taurus SHO 3.0 DOHC 145k manual randomly dies, sometimes hard to start Sign In

Recently my SHO is having trouble starting, i.e. having to crank longer to get it to start, but not always, sometimes it just starts right up. Also it would just randomly drop in RPM's and dies, everything would stay on such as my lights, radio, heater... but seems to me like someone just disconnected the battery and reattached it. it does this at any speed. I can have it floored and drops or just at idle and drops. No check engine light. occasionally it will "hic-up" meaning the car feels like someone slammed on the brakes and drops hard in RPM's then jumps right back. I just bought a new battery and that fixed my hard starting for less than a few days and went right back to where it was before. Replaced the Spark Plugs with OEM at proper gapping. Have some what looks like jerry rigged wiring at my solenoid but it is soddered. ANY help on this subject is greatly appreciated as this is my only vehicle :( As long as my fix is not too expensive im gonna keep her cause i love this car. Today took it to work not a problem, started right up ran smooth, great idle, seems like it doesnt have the same power as it used to thou... anyway a few hours later went out to warm her up, started and idled for 30 mins no problem... again a few hours later went to start her up and took longer to start up but idled fine... drove about 2 miles and had a few "hic-ups" but no dying. hit the store came back out, starts right up... i drive about 2 blocks and "hic-ups" then dies... cant get it started crank her over several times giving it a few secs in between each attempt no luck... so i push her off the road and was going to walk home. I tried it one last time just to make sure and she starts up with some hesitation but is running. She will idle at about 850. but she drops to about 450 then it seems like the car tries to compensate and it will rev to about 1700 then back to 850 all within a few seconds. it will do this at higher RPMS as well... sorry for the long post but i figured i would give you a more thorough look at what is happening... So any ideas?

UPDATE,

put a new fuel filter in and started right up and ran smoother and better acceleration, got it a few blocks and craps out... CEL went on everytime it dies, but after pulling keys out and trying to start it up again CEL is NOT on... was thinking it maybe a fuel pump going out or perhaps a drain or ground somewhere??? the sodered wires are already starting to melt the plastic and the wires themselves are becoming very hot and brittle... could this be because i have too much power running thru the wire and it keeps telling the comp that something is wrong therefore shutting the car off?
