1989 Delta 88 tilt got so wobbly it was dangerous to drive. Searched junk yards and found only 1 out of a Regancy 98 - exact FFF column BUT it had a little slack in the tilt. Since it was the only one out of two huge yards, we took it. What is the internal mechanism that might be tightened to stop this looseness? I'm going to disassemble the old one but hope someone here has had some experience with the internals of tilts on GM steering and can offer some suggestions.

It should be just a matter of tightening 3 bolts inside the column but it a hell of a job to get it apart and back together. You need a couple special tools. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
