Is this normal? Every other gear seems to work fine, cruise controll is off 100% the car just trys to speed its self up. Only seems to speed up to 40mph. To me that's not normal nor would be using 5th of 5 gears as low as 30 MPH. In that it somehow can gain speed from that it might be some fail-safe to NOT I call "lug" the engine. I'm not aware of such a thing but something like that might exist? Do you have owner's - operator's manual for this car? It might say it can and will do that but doubt it.
