3.5 300m engine HELP IDENTIFY PART Sign In

http://i45.tinypic.com/x4ra07.jpg

the part i have circled there in this photo is the top part of the engine out of a 2004 3.5 high output 300m maybe wrong details yada yada but that picture looks exactly like the top of my engine. I have taken my car to autozone etc none of them can tell me what it is.

WHAT IS THAT PART? my car is missing the bar that goes across from the piece on the left to the thing in the middle... im trying to find a replacement one BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE PART IS. PLEASE HELP :D

the photo isnt the exact one of my engine but its in the exact same spot.... i just need to know what that damn thing is called so maybe i can find the missing bar or even make one for my car..... whats it do? lol

again my car is a 2004 dodge intrepid but the engine is out of a 2004 chrystler 300m special edition the egine has 3.5 highout written right ontop of it,

ive come to the conclusion that the entire part is called the air intake and outtake manifold but i have no idea the purpose of the thing in the middle of the engine, i was told when he put it in that he lost it.... and if i was " ganna get on it" to pull it all the way to the right and if "drive it normally" keep it halfways...... pls help lol

Re: 3.5 300m engine HELP IDENTIFY PART Sign In

When I checked that year it showed an electronic one, not the vacuum type you are showing.
They are calling it a Variable Induction Control Actuator

It is a electrical actuator attached to the intake manifold (Fig. 23).

OPERATION
The SRV (Fig. 23) system operates under WOT conditions above 5000 rpm to maximize engine performance. When actuated by the PCM, the SRV solenoid energizes, allowing mechanical linkage to redirect the intake air flow to six short runners. The PCM looks for a current spike when actuating the solenoid. If the spike is not present, the PCM sets the DTC.

It's still the same system and does the same job but the service manual says yours should be electric, not vacuum.

I did some searching around and I found the type you have on a 2000 Intrepid 3.5 VIN G

OK, now I see what you're saying. Your first pic didn't match your car. You can order that piece from the dealer.

well i was told my engine came out of a 2004 300m,

that photo is EXACTLY like my engine.

Orginally my car was a 2004 dodge intrepid with a 2.7 engine, but it blowed up, and found an old friend who had an engine sitting in the garage that is this 3.5 high output engine, and they converted the car over that was orginally a 2.7 for the 3.5 engine i am using now. Also the transmission that was used on the 2.7 connects to the 3.5 high out put engine.

nice thank you thats what i needed to hear and now i know what to say when i talk to them :D

again thank you so much for just that moment of wisdom. After 6 years... I finally have the name of it. Then again i guess i should have just went to the dealer in the first place when nobody in this town could tell me what it was ;\

OK, now the plot thickens.

I don't know exactly what he did to put that engine in there but that was a serious mistake. Not only do you not have the correct operating system for that engine but it's totally against federal law to do that.

huh sooooo maybe i dont need to go to the dealer? the reason i thought it was ok was because the 2004 dodge intrepid r/t model had a 3.5 high output engine but then again this was done in someones garage o_O But i remember having to pay for a computer for it but i really know any details about it.
teh story in full details
bought 2.7 2004 dodge intrepid at auction
blew up 2 weeks later
my mother called one of her old loverboys and he found us an engine the 3.5 high output for $900 that only had 40k miles on it.

Payed some dude that worked at a scrapyard place to put it in for $700, and he made us pay like $150 for a "computer" and it was in the car like 3 months later. and he said he lost that top bar up there

Then i wrecked it on the interstate a year ago, and we found another 2003 dodge intrepid 2.7 that had a blew engine for $600 and payed another guy like 379 to put the engine into it, and all that time nobody has ever been able to tell me anything about that bar that you just gave me the name of finally.

Re: 3.5 300m engine HELP IDENTIFY PART Sign In

You have a computer system and the car is wired for one specific system and all it's related systems and sensor. The PCM is also integrated into the rest of the vehicle.
You will soon find out that your computer likely isn't even programmed to operate those actuators. You likely don't even have wiring for them.

so.... maybe thats why the bar was "lost" and the other dude who put the engine into the current car didn't bother with finding one/ mentioning it?

You're missing the point. The car likely isn't even equipped to operate it so the linkage likely won't matter. It's a Frankenstein mess now.

In the future if you ever change a motor again, replace it with the exact same motor that came out of it.
