2012 VW Jetta Traction and Tire pressure lights came on Sign In

I recently took my vehicle in to my local VW repair shop because I was having an issue with my key getting stuck, when they asked if anything else was wrong I had an oil pressure light that was not wanting to reset. They changed out the 2 pieces that needed to be changed out for the key and did an oil change then called me to come pick it up.

After I pay I go out to my car and start it up. Right away I notice that I now have my Tire pressure and traction light staying solid lit up. I shut off the car and asked the repair center if they had any idea why those lights are still on. They said that after letting it sit for 4-5 days after waiting for the parts to come in they say both the traction and tire pressure on when they started it.

The guy working the desk said to go check the tire pressure then drive it around for awhile and the traction light should come off. If not, come back and we'll file another claim under your extended warranty for it if they cover it. They also said that they had to put it on a batter charger because it had a rough time starting after sitting. I can't say I have ever let the car sit for that long but this is the first issue I have had with the car outside of the key getting stuck issue.

So my question is I was wondering if there was any reason these lights would come on after sitting for awhile with no previous indication.

Sure, if you had a tire drop pressure as the light indicates. Did you check your tire pressure as you were advised?

Ditto and to add an FYI: Air and tire pressure are temperature related. About twice a year - anywhere the temp swing is quite great day to night. FYI if checked last was warmer (just tires when checked) pressure should go up or down about 1 PSI per 10F degrees. The air will always leak some year round is normal to a point you learn that rate over some time.
As almost all machines or vehicles suggested pressure for each tire is listed, door jams most common. Check with two gauges to verify gauges are right also. Be ready to adjust also just checking take out air!
Any system watching pressure for you is going to change how far that wheel rolls per revolution so at some point would change traction assist anything.
A motor vehicle baseline is correct wheels, tires @ what wear, pressure @ what temp and add in always a fully charged battery so info is on target or all bets off of any real problem for now,
T

I checked the air pressure on the door jam and actually was slightly over the 32psi on all 4 tires. Still unable to get any of the lights to come off. Highly appreciate your two's input so far! Thank you

You're going to need some equipment to diagnose this. You need a professional scan tool capable of accessing the ABS module to read codes.

A regular generic code reader isn't going to do it. You need some professional equipment.

My main friend and his friend are both opening up different car repair shops. I was told the friend of a friend has the correct machine to read it according to him. Highly appreciate the help, fingers crossed! If all else fails I will take it to an actual shop and let them hook it up to theirs.
