2011 AMC Acadia hardly starts when I'm getting gas

2011 AMC Acadia hardly starts when I'm getting gas Sign In

2011 GMC Acadia starts on a dime every time EXCEPT when I turn it off to get gas. Once tank is full, I put gas cap back on it turns over and over at least 4 times then it finally starts. Only happens when I'm at gas pump. Thank you for your ideasSmile

Kind of new, but you should check to see if the EVAP purge valve is stuck open. Is the check engine light on?

If the purge valve is stuck open during refueling, fuel vapors will be pushed into the intake. That will flood the engine and make it start hard or run rough till the flooding is cleared out.

Easiest way to check to see if the valve is stuck open is to unplug the electrical connector and the vapor line that goes back to the charcoal canister at the valve. If you feel vacuum on the purge valve nipple with the engine idling, the valve is stuck open and needs to be replaced. Note: having the purge valve electrical connector unplugged will probably set a purge valve circuit code.

Evap purge soleniod is located on top of the engine next to the throttle body.
