I bought a 2010 Toyaota Corolla last April. At 7,000 miles I started hearing a clicking noise when applying back brakes. I took it into the dealer today and they said this was normal. I left knowing this was just not right. Why wasn't this happening for the first 7,000 miles. I plan on going to another another dealer ship and asking them to take care of the problem. I won't stop until the noise goes away. Has anyone else had the same problem?

I've ran into problem with aluminum caliper brackets(where the break pad sit in). Excessive clearance causes the pads to have room to play so when you apply the break you here a click. There are a few options:
-Build up the pad seat (so a small weld on top and grind down till pad fits snug in the bracket)
-make sure the caliper clips are installed
-replace caliper clips and brackets then re-install pads and check clearances.

Marcy: Is this just the words you chose or please tell me how you are applying just the back brakes? Parking brake would be just the back. Agree, pads are too loose and spring loaded clips should solve the issue,
