My 2009 Chrysler Town and Country has 15,200 mi, a 4.0 engine. When I come to a stop, the vehicle stops normally, then after a few seconds, bumps forward as if someone bumped into the rear of the van. It seems to be getting more frequent and is sometimes more severe and sometimes just a slight bump. I had to show the dealer what it does, then they said, "its searching for a gear" and "it's normal" and "it doesn't show any codes so we can't fix it."
I know this is not "normal" and the van did not do this when new. Is there any info on this problem?

Re: 2009 TOWN AND COUNTRY JERKS FORWARD AFTER STOP Sign In

Hmmm....searching for gears while sitting still,,,,,I wonder what gear it could possibly be looking for and why it would put it someplace it can't find it in the 1st place????????

Sorry........thinking out loud again......Blush

Unfortunately my old busted down cheapy database isn't full updated so I didn't see any TSBs on this problems.
Maybe one of the rich kids here with the new hotlist that has all the bells & whistles could take a look in theirs and see if anything pops up.....Tongue Cool

It there isn't any TSBs or recalls on this problem what I would suggest is take it to a different dealer for a 2nd opinion. If that isn't an option then maybe get it diagnosed at a transmission shop. Just so you can get some expert that can say "yes, this isn't normal, there is a problem here", key word is expert, so a lube shop or chain store probably isn't going to cut it.......

What you're describing doesn't sound normal. If this is a normal characteristic of the transmission then you may have to change your driving habits a bit but if that is the case, they should've covered this with you and explained everything that you need to do.....
