2009 RAV-4 Sport, V6, 135,000+ km. Within the last 2 weeks there has been intermittent problems when starting the car. When the ignition is put into the start position, not all of the dash board system indicators light up. It is usually the emergency brake light, the traction control light, & air bags. Systems are offline as well - no fan or air conditioning, no signal lights, etc. The car will turn over and start no problem, but the shifter is locked and there is no power steering or power brakes. At first it would run a few seconds to a minute and the systems would start up but it has progressed to a few mins, if at all. While running the car I am able to override the gear shifter and drive the vehicle in gear. On a few occasions the systems kicked in but today nothing. Can't drive it around with no power steering, brakes and no signals. I've checked the battery and there was some corrosion on the posts, so I sprayed on cleaner and gave them a scrub, but no luck. Sounds like an electrical problem or starter problem?

always start with a scan for codes YES even if the lights are OFF. Tell us - is there a remote starter? A test light and wiring diagram - inspection of circuits and the underhood fuse box, SWAG- the ignition switch - not the key cylinder the electricsl switch it controls.

Sorry I don't have a code reader. There is no remote starter on my vehicle.
