2008 Ford Escape-Starter

My 2008 , 4 cylinder Ford Escape is beocoming difficult to start. The battery is new. What could possibly be going on? Could it be the starter or perhaps fuel injection issues. i need to figure out why its becoming more and more difficult to start. I know how to replace fuses and was wondering if I should check the starter and fuel fuses to see if it helps the situation.

Your going to have to explain the problem in a lot more detail before we can have any idea what's going on.

When I turn the ignition to position 4 , it is completely silent. According to the owner's manual one should return the ignition to position 3 , wait 10 seconds and try again. If the problem persists then press the accelerator and attempt to start the engine. I have never had any problems starting the engine until recently. I have had to wait several minutes to get the engine to start by returning the ignition to position 3. I know that I should not have to do this each time to start the engine. Occasionally it will start on the first attempt. You may hear a buzzing sound when the key is turned to start the engine but the engine will not start.

Have you tried jump starting it?

I had to jumpstart it once and repalaced the battery. However, the starting problem still persists.

Does it start with a jump start? What happens after you get it started and shut it off for a short time?

It does start without a jump. You just have to wait minutes on end to retry the turning the key to position 4. Once the car starts, it drives well. However, when the engine is not running and you attempt to restart , it may/may not immediately start when I turn the ignition. Sometimes it starts but more frequently it doesn't...very inconsistent

Your just going to have to troubleshoot the starting circuit with a test light while the problem is present. It could be bad starter, neutral switch, ignition switch, relay or a connection in between.
