Hey folks. I recently bought a used 2007 Mazda 6i back in May of this year. I love the car and it had been running pretty smoothly until recently.

Starting in September, I started having electrical problems where the blinkers wouldn't blink automatically, the interior lights would not turn on when the car doors were opened, and the power locks were also broken. Just recently, they all magically started working again after I parked my car one evening and turned on the interior lights manually (by pushing the lights in, of course).

Just a few days ago, I was driving and I pulled into a parking lot. As I was turning a corner, my car's power steering completely shut down and the check oil and battery lights came on. The car was still running, and I was able to park it and turn it off. I checked all of my fluids (power steering, oil, coolant, etc) and everything seemed to be at a normal level. It turned back on without any problems, and has not malfunctioned since then.

The check engine light has been on since late August, but admittedly I have been hesitant about getting it checked out (finances are tight). I was curious to know if anyone may know what the problem could be, or if those two problems were linked in anyway.

Stats of my Mazda:
2007 Mazda 6 i
2.3 engine
129k miles

Apologies in advance since I'm a bit of a car noob, but I can understand most.

Thanks for any help!

You can go to just about any auto parts store and they will pull the codes for free. Whenever the check engine light comes a code or codes will be stored. Right down the codes and post them here. One of the mechanics on the site will be able to point you in the right direction. It's possible the stored codes may not have anything to do with your electrical problem and you may have some other issue.

You know I can't stress enough how BAD of idea it is to ignore a warning light of a malfunctioning system and you have no clue to what kind of damage you are doing.

Granted there are 1000s of reason for an SES and some are minor but other ones can do damage.......

I've talked to you before....about 20 or 30 times throughout my career..... Everytime you were freaking out and couldn't believe that just continuing to drive your car after the light came on ruined your engine & now it was going to be thousands of dollars to fix it....Half the time you were in tears & once we almost had to call 911......seriously...
