Probably a bad cluster. I have seen that a few times. Technically it matters but just from a resale stand point. And even then buyers usually don't look at it unless it is a diesel. Really won't matter much past that.

These cluster failures have become pretty common. The dealers sell remanufactured units for around $400 if I remember right. Dorman started making reman units too.

Here are some applications to get a part number and then you can search the part number.

Yep. I do a couple a month here. Usually not related to hour counter though. Pretty common failure.

Its a gas engine so I will not worry about it.. The milege and trip works fine and hasnt reset... Is that next??

Also when I am at a dead stop when I take off it feels like something kind of shifts different before getting out of first.. It goes into first fine then a weird feeling then 2nd been doing it prolly since I have had it.. Its not slipping I am pretty sure about that....

The common issue on the cluster is the with the gauges and not the warning lights or the DIC (Drivers Information Center). So may or may not be next.

2006-2008 Have a know problem with the slip yoke on the drive shaft. What happens is when you come to a stop it causes a slight angle in the yoke and then when you take off it will pop or sound (feel) like something slipping. Cure is to remove the drive shaft clean out the slip yoke where the spline are (inside the yoke where it goes into the transmission) and put some new grease in. If it is persistent GM makes a updated design on a new slip yoke but that also requires a new u-joint.

Jeff I have guages but my milege and trip plus engine hrs are digital read out.... So if its next will the computer know the exact mileage and all if it goes out then replaced??

And yes what you describe is what its doing but I dont hear any sound I just feel it.. Is that an issue that I can get by with or does it need attention? And how much does that usually run to clean out? and how much does it run for replacement with u joint.. I did buy and extended warranty so would that be covered in warranty??

No I believe the mileage is stored in the cluster only. When I replace one I have to program it with the correct mileage.

The yoke replacement may be covered. Depends on the warrenty. If not you can drive with out incedent if in fact this is the problem causing your issue.

Jeff you are the man... I sure hope my cluster isnt getting ready to go I wonder if its under warranty.. And how do u reconfigure the milege because I surely dont write it down lol...?

And yes I am pretty sure that is the issue because I had a 93 chevy and before I had the trans rebuilt it slipped bad.... I probably will get it checked out if I start hearing the sounds.. What other issues could it be if not? Just curious...

Oh and my warranty cover me up to 100,000 I have 65,000 on it now...I know how the fine print works tho my luck it isnt covered but I paid a nice number for this warrnaty so I would hope it is for both issues here...

Checked Trans out everything seems fine on shift.. However trans dip stick does have crack in tube so I am having it fixed in the morning 84.00 wow lol anyway wanted to let you know....
