2006 Honda Civic EX 1.8L 54,000 Miles Hullo, About a year and a half ago I started noticing a slow but steady decrease in gas mileage with my Civic. For the first 4 years of owning the vehicle I got 31-34 mpg in the city and 38-42 mpg on the highway and I kept regular track of it every time I filled up. After it had dropped to 26 mpg in the city, and a long highway trip in which I got 33-34 exclusively on the highway I took it in to the dealer. They reset the computer, which did nothing and the mileage continued to drop. After it had dropped into the 24-25 mpg range I took it back in, and they found nothing and implied I didn't know how to calculate gas mileage, told me to keep track of all the fuel I put in and odometer. I brought it back in a third time, at this point it was getting 19-22 mpg. After confirming I knew how to calculate gas mileage (der?) they adjusted the fuel mixture and replaced the air filter and oil filter. This did nothing. I took it into a different mechanic, and they found the rear end was out of alignment, which was fixed. After this I'm still getting ~22 mpg. The car starts up first time, sound great, seems to have no acceleration problems, and has never been in an accident. Any ideas? Thanks.

a lot of factors go into gas mileage. have you considered changes in weather and a/c usage? as far as oil changes.. have they been using the correct kind? has your gas station switched to 10% ethanol gas? i would check for leaks anywhere and everywhere as well. good luck
