2006 Dodge Durango AWD

5,000 miles ago I took my vehicle to a repair shop for rear brakes.
The mechanic gave me an estimate for $140 to replace the rear pads with ceramic ones and turn the rotors if needed.
Within a couple of weeks I started to feel a vibration. I took my SUV back to the mechanic and he told me that the rotors were now warped. He said he never turned the rotors when he replaced the pads and that they were ok when he looked at them. He stated that they likely became warped by driving through a puddle. He said he would replace the rotors for the cost of the rotors and do the labor for free. He quoted me $200. I thought it sounded funny so I left. He called me later in the week and said he wanted to try and turn the rotors and see if that fixes the problem. I never went back and now the shake is getting worse. Should I go back to him or is this guy scamming me?

I would find a different shop if I were you. He charged you to resurface the rotors, yet never did. he quoted you $200 and said it was parts only. I can buy those rotors for about $35 each. you should be able to get them for $60 or less each.

It's also very unusual to get rotor distortion on rear disc because they only carry about 25% of the load so they don't see much heat.
