My daughter has a 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse and when she starts the car on cold mornings the heater blows cold air and dosen't get warm until she is driving it and it gets about 2000 RPM's. She has had the Thermostat changed and the system flushed, this helped for a little while and went back to the same problem. She was having to add a little coolant sometimes so she had it checked again and they found a hose the was loose and leaking a little, this helped for just a short time and back to the same problem. We have found that if you squeeze one of the hoses while the car is running the heater will blow hot air just for a short time. Someone told us that the system might have air in it to park it on a hill so that the radiator cap was higher that the heater core and remove the cap and let the car run for a while to see if the air would come out, did this and the heater was hot at the time but when she got back in it later it was cold again. It is not loosing any fluid now and does not run hot....Any suggestions?

Sounds like the heater core is plugged up and will have to be replaced.
