2004
Dodge
Neon sxt
2.0 L SOHC
280,000

This is actually my girlfriends car. I was driving it (she was in the car as well). We were at the store down the street (about 3 miles). About half way back to the house, we both heard a noise which sounded like it had something to do with the brakes. It was kind of a scraping noise. I looked at the dash, and no lights were on, and the engine was NOT hot at all. Just as I was pulling in the driveway the car stalled. I let it drift into the driveway and put it in park. I tried starting it again, but it wouldn't. It's making a kind of whirring noise. I opened the hood and a little bit of antifreeze vapor was coming from the passenger side of the engine. (not a lot at all). So I looked under the car and the underside appeared a little wet. I added more antifreeze. It appears to be leaking HEAVILY out of the passenger side of the engine somewhere I cannot see it. I'm gonna jack it up tomorrow and take a look underneath. I pulled the error codes off of it (by turning the key on, off, on, off, on) It threw the 0552 and 0340 codes. 0552 means power steering pressure sensor circuit low input. 0340 means camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction. Does anyone have any idea what happened? It won't start which is very concerning. It's leaking antifreeze which is very concerning. However, at no time did it overheat, so I don't think the engine is blown or anything like that. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!

I forgot to mention the transmission is brand new and the engine was replaced shortly before we got it, so the engine has few miles on it...

Just because the temp gaugwe didnb't show it doesn't mean that it wasn't hot. The temp gauge reads coolant temp and it there was no coolant, it couldn't read temp. Find and repair the leak and go from there.
