2004 Chevy Tracker Problem Starting

I have a 2004 Chevy Tracker with 27,000 miles on it. Within the last month I have started to notice a problem starting my car. Every now and then when you turn the key to start the vechical it turns for about 3 seconds and then sputters out quickly. When you try to restart the only way to get it to start is to tap the gas pedal quickly. I told the dealership about the problem, and they scanned the electrical system, but found no problems. There is no pattern to this occurrence. Could it be dirty fuel injectors, or maybe water in the gas. Any ideas to what the problem could be?? Thanks in advance.
