2004 Chevy Aveo Occasional burning smell inside vehicle

Weird smell in my car (manual Chevy Aveo) intermittently today.. once at an intersection and once going up a short hill. Yesterday it was fine, but today when I drove I noticed a smell sort of like brakes or burning something (not like eggs and not sweet) from inside the car (didn't seem to smell under the hood, oil level is fine). Brakes seem ok - brake fine, doesn't seem hot, they don't smell and are not hot after driving? I looked at the serpentine belt and it seems okay. I was able to stall it so the clutch is probably ok... brakes and clutch feel fine to me.
I really don't know what it could be. Thanks!
