2003 chevy malibu window and starter issues

ok here goes, i know i have a short in my driver side power window switch, the thing is it started working suddenly and now im having issues with the starter. could a short in the window effect my starter. it hasnt completely died yet, it will start but at times it takes it a few before it turns over. each time this happens i have to reset the clock in car, so i know its taking power away. i was told it sounds like starter, so what i need to know is could window short effect my starter because i dont want to get a new one and it do the same thing. car has 189,000+ miles on it. dont remember engine size but will get info if its needed. all help very welcome.

No, the window switch will not do that. Why don't you test what should have been the first thing to check and that is the battery.
