2003 Mercury Sable GS Engine Light/Parking Brake Light Sign In

I own a 2003 Mercury Sable GS 3.0L V6 with 133,000 miles on it. My originial problem was a check engine light in March which my mechanic fixed by replacing the fuel filter, ignition wires, ignition coils, etc as well as a fuel injection service (cleaning fuel injectors, fuel rail, and throttle body). The reason I had it serviced was because of the check engine light and because it seemed that my car took a long time to accelerate and jumped in the process (only when reaching around 40MPH). The car also idled roughly and I was only getting about 200 miles on a tank of gas (unsure the size, it is either 14 or 16 gal). The problem seemed to be resolved and I was getting about 300 miles on a tank of gas. My check engine light is on again now and my mileage is at 200 miles per tank again. It vibrates very badly when in park or at a stop light. It also jumps a little when accelerating going up a hill and it is taking a long time to accelerate again as well. Within the past 2-3 days it has gotten very bad with the vibrating while parked or stopped, feels as if the car is about to stall. Also about a month ago my parking brake light started coming on randomly. For the past week it has been on every time the car is on. I have engaged the parking brake and released it and it has no effect on the light. My brake pads are due to be changed though. My husband and I just did a fluid check on the car and everything seems fine besides the fact that I do need an oil change. The car also seems very hot once you turn it off even if it has only been running for 5-10 minutes. Brake fluid and radiator fluid levels are normal. I did notice however, that on the air filter on the bottom (which was replaced in June and is almost completely clean) that there is an orange tint. On the side of it, it is definitely more red than orange which makes me think of transmission fluid (only red fluid that I know of in my car). I plan on taking the car tomorrow to get the codes pulled from the check engine light but am hesitant on spending a lot to fix this car because it was almost $800 to get it fixed in March and I'm getting a different used car but that cannot happen until at least November yet this car I use frequently for transporting my two young children. Please help! It's greatly appreciated!

Have the codes read and go from there. make sure the brake fluid is topped off.
